Hosts and Co-Hosts in Zoom
Zoom sessions are moderated by one or more designated individuals known as Host, Co-Hosts, and Alternative Hosts. The Host is by default the user that scheduled the meeting, they have full permissions to manage the meeting and attendees. While there can be only one Host at any given time, the title can be reassigned during the meeting. Co-hosts share most of the controls that hosts have, allowing the co-host to manage the administrative side of the meeting, such as managing attendees. The host must assign a co-host during the meeting. Co-hosts cannot start a meeting. If a host needs someone else to start the meeting, they can assign an alternative host. Alternative hosts have the same controls as co-hosts, but can also start meetings without the host present. Please Note: In order to configure a co-host or alternative host, both the original host and the individual/s being granted permissions will need a licensed Zoom account. Faculty and Staff can be granted a Zoom license by requesting one from the Bard Helpdesk
Making an attendee a Co-Host
In order to assign a co-host you must be either the Host or an Alternative Host of that meeting. Once the person you want to make a co-host joins the Zoom meeting, click on "Participants" in the bottom toolbar. You should then see any and all participants who are currently in the Zoom meeting in a panel on the right side of the window.
Hover your mouse over the individuals name in the browser until you see "More". Click on this menu when it appears and then select the role you wish to assign to the individual. Next to their name you will then see their updated role. Note that this permission can also be revoked by following the same steps.

Setting an Alternative Host
Alternative Hosts can be designated by the host when scheduling a meeting. At the bottom of the page used to set up a meeting look for a section titled "Options", if there are no visible options to change select "Show" to expand the menu options.
With the options menu open, type the email address for any alternative hosts you wish to add. After you have set all of your meeting options click "Save" at the bottom of the screen to finish scheduling the meeting.
