Using Google Transfer
Google's Transfer tool allows students to migrate their Bard account data to a separate personal Gmail account. This is to preserve important files and communications prior to the accounts closure; either after graduation or before a student ends their academic association with the college. Please note that the takeout/transfer service is not available for employee accounts.
Make sure your personal account has enough storage space to accommodate the transfer. Google offers 15 GB of storage for free, but student accounts can have up to 50Gb of stored data. You may have to purchase additional storage space through Google depending on the contents of your student and personal account.
**Make sure you are signing in with your Bard account** If you aren’t using your Bard account you will see a message saying "Transfer Your Content is only available to authorized G Suite for Education Accounts. Please contact your administrator, or sign in with another Google Account.". If this happens, sign out of your personal email account before logging back in with your Bard account.
- After successfully signing in, you will be asked to enter the address for the Google account you are transferring the data to.
-   A code will be sent to the Google account you entered to verify you have the correct address.
- After entering the verification code, you will choose the data you want to transfer. Make your selections and click “Start Transfer”.
- This process can take up to a week and files may be delivered in batches. You will receive an email when the transfer is complete.
